Rating Pet Friendly Accommodation

Western Cape

Places that we have visited or contacted to visit with our 4 dogs.

Fairfield farm cottages in Ceres is a great escape for people with any size dog. There are no live stock like chickens on the farm only cows. Very nice accommodation as well. We go there often with our dogs and both human and K9 has a lot of fun. The farm is not enclosed and dogs roam free through trees, veld and bush.

Keisie cottages in Montagu.Very nice self catering cottages on a fruit farm. They do however have chickens on the farm which for some breeds like Huskies can be difficult to leave alone. Our dogs love swimming in the 3 dams available.Contact:083 676 6074 Keisie Cottages

Fuller farm in Knysna Rheenendal. The cottage is primitive and there are no fencing keeping the dogs in. But any breed of dog is welcome and can run all over. They do have dogs of their own and cattle on the farm. But it is very pet friendly. Our dogs loved running around there.

Knysna: Forest Edge - Natures lovers retreat. Dogs must be leashed and large dogs are not really welcome.

Homtini - Knysna guest farm is a beautiful place, but dogs must have a perfect recall as it is right in the forest. There is no fencing.

Blackwaters river lodge -Knysna Large breed dogs not welcome although they advertise for all breeds. Gate opens so dogs can easily get onto the N2. But a beautiful place. Birds and resident dogs.

Fern Gully Knysna- has got the most amazing Red Barn restaurant. We went there a couple of times ourselves. They do have pet friendly accommodation, but no large dogs and definitely not 4. Dogs must be leashed as the owner does not want the dogs to roam to far on the farm. Fern Gully
Protea Wilds Eco Lodge-KnysnaThey are pet friendly for all breeds, but do have a gate that opens to a busy road for cars to drive in and out. Dogs mix with resident dogs. Beautiful scenery. Protea eco farm

Porterville- Berghoff Mountain Top Chalets. All breeds welcome on farm. Very secluded. They do have Ostriges roaming around though. 022 931 2937

Mountain Cottage - Union Dale

This is one of the best pet friendly places we have ever been too. They have a 2 hectare piece of land enclosed with a dam and a very nice house in the middle of a farm up in the Bo-Kouga. Our dogs loved it. It is however not an easy drive to the farm and is about 7 hours away from Cape Town. Contact Dion on 073 2035716
