Our Compassionate Rosie

by Theresa
(Ontario, Canada)

Rosie is a Morky, which is a cross between a Maltese and a Yorkie. My husband brought her home. I was not ready to have a pet, and thought she was so ugly, she was cute. I soon fell in love with Rosie and we kept her. Now 7 years later, I don't know what I would do without her. She is the most intellegent dog I have ever met. Last year I went through a very difficult and emotional time. I was amazed at how she felt our pain. She did not eat for a couple of days and stayed by my side the whole time. In fact when all this stuff broke out, I went to my bedroom to just have a good cry. Rosie followed me in and she sat beside me and layed her head on my leg. She did that as if to say..."I'm here for you Mommy" My husband and I have grown to love her so much, that to us she is just like a baby stuck in a furry body. She is very precious and I swear sometimes she understands our every word. Rosie's joints are beginning to make noise when she walk now. She is on glucosomine and multi-vitamins and that seems to help, however, we absolutely hate the fact that she is getting older. When she sees a chipmunk or a squirrel though we see the young Rosie run. She sure can run. She comes to many functions with us. There were a few people in our family, including my Mom who were not dog people, but now, Rosie has won their hearts. My Mom even offered to watch her for us when we need to go where she is not welcomed. Most of the time she comes with us. She is at her happiest when she is with my husband and myself. She really has become our little child. No one has ever been so faithful as Rosie. She is so loved!!
